Acupuncture
We are pleased to welcome Lindsay Field as the new Associate Acupuncturist at Gentle Currents Acupuncture Clinic. She received her Master’s Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in 2001 from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine.
Women's Health Issues
Following graduation, she created a successful private practice and worked at the Oregon Health Science’s University Hospital in the Women’s Health Clinic. Recently she and her husband and children moved back east. We are glad she did and that she is launching her practice here. Ms. Field is experienced in the field of women’s health in Chinese medicine and will be developing this as a focus of her practice at Gentle Currents. She will be available to treat women’s health issues, including (though not limited to) menstrual, pregnancy, fertility, and menopausal concerns.
Stress and Anxiety Clinic
Through the spring and into the summer, Lindsay is offering a series of weekly clinics for stress and anxiety reduction.
Remember Mel Brooks’ movie High Anxiety? (He sings the title tune as a psychiatrist-turned- lounge-crooner to female lead Madeline Kahn.) In the west, we tend to approach stress and anxiety as if they are normal aspects of daily life. They are not. At least, they need not be. Acupuncture can be enormously helpful in substantially reducing all forms of stress and anxiety.
Every Monday evening through the spring Gentle Currents Acupuncture Clinic will be offering this special clinic from 5:45 to 7:45 pm at a discount from the usual rate. Pre-registration is required as space is limited.
Lindsay encourages Seacoast residents to, “Leave the office behind and find peace of body and mind before heading home.” Especially good advice as Seacoast citizens work their way from winter to summer via mud season. Though some relief almost always occurs immediately, Ms. Field encourages most people to plan on about four sessions for maximum relief. Lindsay further notes, “The longer, more continuous and chronic the stress or anxiety, the more sessions are likely to be needed. As with any disease, it takes the body a certain amount of time to heal and to form and secure new healthy energy patterns.”
